The Intel Vietnam plant is located in the Ho Chi Minh City Hi-Tech Park. In January 2006, Intel announced a $300 million investment project to build a new facility, including an assembly and testing plant, in Vietnam. By November 2006, Intel announced an increase in the scale of the assembly and testing plant from 14,000 m² to 46,000 m², raising the total investment to $1 billion.
Rick Howarth, Director of Intel Vietnam, stated that this is Intel's largest assembly and testing plant with a cleanroom globally. The area of over 46,000 m² is large enough to accommodate nearly six international standard football fields. Intel's second-largest plant, KM4, is located in Kulim, Malaysia, with an area of only 23,000 m².
